Many of us have been reflecting on our pasts as a time we took for granted amid forced isolation and endless time for self-reflection. Some have taken to their phones to message old flames, while others long for the summers of their youth. This time has allowed Jupiter Jayne to lay it all on the line and admit: I should never have gotten involved with you.
Jupiter Jayne, an up-and-coming artist with a bright artistic future, takes center stage with the enthralling technopop track The Day I Met U. The Day I Met U is Singer-Songwriter Jupiter Jayne’s latest offering, filled with an alluring bass-heavy dance vibe and replete with rich production and a hypnotic drumbeat. He brings a somber regret of not realizing the toxicity of a partner sooner the day he met them.
Jupiter Jayne has been creating and performing music for the majority of his life, having started with the piano and Magix Music Maker as a child. Jupiter Jayne, who was born in South Africa and now lives in Los Angeles, has built a reputation for writing, producing and singing pop songs that appeal to both loyal fans and radio airplay.
Intending to embrace peace, his discography ranges from feel-good club hits to pure, unfiltered honesty, which is seamlessly blended with Jupiter Jayne’s yearning vocals. Jupiter Jayne’s innovative approach to dance-pop music encapsulates unfiltered, raw emotion, much like his admired forefathers Prince, David Bowie, and Lady Gaga.
Jupiter Jayne’s early interest in production has set him up to be a truly experimental and daring artist, fusing pulsating EDM with soulful pop lyricism to create authentic music from his own experiences.
Use of Rhythm
A cascade of synths washes over vocals in this track, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of carefree yet thrilling club nights out. Jupiter Jayne’s The Day I Met U is luscious and addictive, transporting us to the hazy lights of the dancefloor.
With its clever use of rhythm and build-up, this EDM-infused pop track intoxicates, creating an ethereal beginning that echoes the lyrics “I should have left you / The day that I met you.” The muffled nature of his voice suggests a past relationship, while the repetition of these lyrics plays on our minds regardless.
Blindness of Love
The Day I Met U reflects a long-held regret, of an involvement that cut too deeply and left scars that are still visible. We live and relive the first day Jupiter Jayne met the person who would come to be life-consuming, in all the wrong ways, with the help of a catchy pop hook.
The verses are rapped with effortless rhythm, flowing off the tongue and reminding us that we can dance our sorrows away even if it’s just within the four walls of our home. Jupiter Jayne has embraced the plethora of emotions involved in his past involvement, from the painful dishonesty of ‘You took me for a fool / Caught you in the act / You tried to play it cool’ to the regain of power of ‘Give me my shades / Don’t want to see you hating’.
The blindness of love shattered by heartbreak and increasing alienation from a person you once knew, raised by the eye-opening nature of recovery. This is a bittersweet anthem about a love that was not so pure, about a love that was full of harsh lessons.
What made you decide you wanted to pursue a career in it?
This is a frequently asked question of mine. To be honest, music chose me. I’ve been fascinated by the idea of making music since I was a child. Pianos and microphones piqued my interest. When I was a kid, I took piano lessons and told my parents I wanted to be a pianist when I grew up.
Unfortunately, I was bullied a lot for playing the piano, so I gave up before finishing middle school. Music followed me into my adolescence, and now I’m a pop star. I guess you can’t escape fate.
What or who do you attribute your sense of style to?
There are so many people. Many people have told me that my songs remind them of Lady Gaga, which is a huge compliment. I guess it shows that I draw a lot of inspiration from her style. I also try to be true to myself and my development, and I look up to Freddy Mercury and Prince whenever I need to be reminded to be myself.
