And I believe we can roar into the future together, establishing a shared recovery that ensures our best days are ahead of us.He discussed expanding Medicaid, increasing teacher pay, investing in workforce training, and strengthening the state’s infrastructure.
Urged Lawmakers
Cooper urged lawmakers to expand Medicaid now that there is more federal funding available. He stated that raising it would provide billions of dollars to help over 500,000 North Carolinians. Rural hospitals and mental health services would benefit from the expansion as well.Cooper also wants legislatures to invest in K-12 and higher education, teacher pay, infrastructure, high-speed internet, and economic development based on clean energy.
He stated that they sent the gowns to hospitals in our state and Connecticut, Georgia, and Florida within the last year. They also hired 50 people in the end. Governor Cooper stated, “This kind of ingenuity and resourcefulness helped us get desperately needed PPE to frontline workers when they didn’t have enough.

Business Restrictions
Conrad hopes that, following the Governor’s goal, more business restrictions will be lifted on June 1. He stated that preparations for the 2021 Barbecue Festival are already underway.We’ve been here for over 60 years and want to stay, Conrad said, and we’re feeling pretty good about where we’re going.
